On the relatively small island of Corfu there are about 800 churches (including chapels, monastic and dilapidated churches) and many Orthodox shrines.
1. The shrines of Corfu town and Kanoni district. Visiting the church where the incorrupt relics of Saint Spyridon of Trimythous are kept, the cathedral with the relics of Saint Theodora Augusta, the church of Saint John the Baptist where Admiral Feodor Ushakov came to the Liturgy for 7 years, the church of Saint Nicholas Gerondon and much more.
The ancient 20th century temple of Jason and Sosipater, the 70 apostles, where their incorruptible relics are kept, the monastery of the icon of the Holy Mother of God of Blachernae, Mouse Island, a monastery where the abbot is a disciple of Paisios the Holy Mountain, where the relics of more than 60 saints and two miraculous icons are kept, the monastery of the Great Martyr Euphemia the All-Praised, one of the oldest in Corfu.
2. The shrines of the southern and western coasts are the monasteries where the right hands of the Holy Martyr Paraskeva of Rome and Saint Kyriaki are kept, the monastery of the Holy Mother of God, Lady of the Angels, where the famous ascetic Anastasia labored, the monastery deep in the mountains above the beautiful coast, where the miraculous icon of the Holy Mother of God Myrtiotissa was found, the famous monastery of Paleokastritsa.
3. The shrines of the northern coast of CORFU. The Monastery of St. Demetrius of Thessaloniki, where part of the head of St. Panteleimon is kept, the Pantocrator Monasteries (Christ Pantocrator), there are four of them on the island.
One is located on the highest point of the island, Mount Pantokrator, another is a women's monastery founded by Paisios the Athonite, the third is founded by the famous ascetic - elder Sophrony, where the "miracle of the tree" occurred, in this monastery oil is produced, considered one of the best in Europe. The Pantokrator Monastery, where 26 nuns live, founded with the blessing of St. Paisios the Athonite. And also the pearl of Corfu - the monastery of the High Mother of God, the oldest monastery, which was partially rebuilt by Admiral Ushakov, where documents related to the period of Admiral Ushakov's reign on the island are stored in the archives.
Visit to the monastery of the icon of the Holy Mother of God of Blachernae ("Balcony of God"), where the abbot, a famous icon painter, labored for 16 years in the Dochiar monastery on Mount Athos.
